The search engine data was pulled from web properties of WebFX, Inc. and our clients. The data range was from Jan. 1, 2012 through December 31, 2012. Over 35,000,000 visits from search engines were analyzed. We used Analytics Canvas and a lot of patience to pull in such a large amount of data.
The state-by-state data used for comparision was pulled from a variety of authoratative sources, including the Department of Education, United States Census Bureau and USA Today.
