When there’s a lot of work to be done, some employees may try to “power through” without taking a break. However, as the infographic above shows, taking breaks is actually more beneficial to your productivity. Stopping to rest, take a walk, or surf the web for only a few minutes can leave you feeling refreshed and focused. In fact, a scientific study showed that two groups of workers with the same task had very different levels of performance based on whether or not they took two short breaks.
Surprisingly, multitasking is also debunked as a productivity booster. Who would have thought that only 2% of people can efficiently multitask? Instead of trying to do multiple things at once, employees should focus on a single task at a time. By breaking big projects into smaller pieces, it will be easier to focus on them, and will add a sense of accomplishment when each piece is completed.
As we showed in this infographic, there are many ways that you can boost your productivity at work. Do you have a tried and true method of staying productive and focused on the task at hand? Feel free to share it with us in the comments.
