Informational DVD Case Study US Fish and Wildlife Service - US Federal Government

Client's Project Goals

The US Fish and Wildlife Service was looking for an innovative way to distribute information on endangered species and wildlife to US government agencies across the country.

They came to WebpageFX to take advantage of our design expertise.

We developed a revolutionary DVD presentation that incorporates a large amount of the material on endangered species presented in an aesthetically-pleasing and Section 508-compliant design.

Design

The design of the informational DVD had to be clean, crisp, and reflect the ideals of the US Fish and Wildlife Service. We chose backdrops with large vistas of various regions of the US.

A custom script changes the entire look and feel of the presentation between six different stylesheets dynamically, representing different areas of the United States.

Designing for a DVD shares many similarites with the web, however WebpageFX optimized the presentation for DVD usability.

Development

The entire presentation conforms to the Section 508 accessibility standards set forth by the federal government.

All videos are presented using SWFObject, a script that enables true standards- and Section 508-compliant media embedding.

A customized scroller allows viewers to skip quickly between various sections in the extensive "Documents" section of the presentation.

Results

The US Fish and Wildlife Service's DVD designed by WebpageFX will be distributed to every Federal agency around the country in early 2009. As a result of our work on this particular presentation, we have been contacted by a number of other government offices for design work.
